Dancer/choreographer Katerina Tomás has over 35 years of experience as a dancer and dance teacher. She studied flamenco with Gypsy dancer Rosa Montoya, the Gypsies of Granada and Jerez de la Frontera, and with flamenco modernists Roberto Amaral, Joaquin Grilo, Antonio Canales, and Eva "La Yerbabuena." An exciting, innovative artist, Katerina was awarded seven grants from the Spanish Ministry of Culture for her choreography and research on flamenco, and an L.A. Treasures Award from the City of Los Angeles.

Katerina teaches private lessons in flamenco dance (baile flamenco) at her home studio at 721 Mound Avenue in South Pasadena.

Private lessons are available Monday and Thursday from 9am to 8pm, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am-6pm, and Friday from 9am-3pm.

SOLEARES & BULERIAS DE JEREZ - A soulful, elegant and powerful song and dance, the Soleares is the foundational rhythm and dance in flamenco. Bulerías is A WONDERFUL GYPSY FLAMENCO DANCE featuring great footwork, turns, style and choreography. Learn the structure, choreography and style of this magnificent piece. SOLEARES CHOREGRAPHY BEGINS IN JUNE 2009.

SEVILLANAS - Choreography starts on Tuesday February 24 & Saturday, February 28. LEARN all four verses of this beautiful partner dance. Please bring castanets to class. No need to bring a partner, we partner up in the class. CASTANET practice begins at the end of JANUARY 2009.

ADVANCED FLAMENCO - WINTER/SPRING 2009

Technique:Advanced technique featuring turns, remates, footwork, palmas and marcaje. Learn rehearsal and performing skills and approaches for different types of choreography. Learn the Soleares por bulerías and Jaleos in this fast paced advanced class.
